Hi smartmanav, I don't know the answer to that! In fact, no one really does except the folks that write the GMAT. It's possible to speculate based on data across multiple GMATprep tests, but even if we could figure it out, the information wouldn't be very useful anyway.

Can some one tell how many RC passages in general come in GMAT ?
The number of RCs vary ,but the number of questions would be in the range 12-15. That being said , its possible to see these questions spread over 3 or 4 or worst case 5 RCs.

RC passages can be characterized as short or long passages. Short passages are 2-3 paragraphs, less than 50 lines, and usually have 3 questions. Long passages have 3-4 paragraphs, more than 50 lines, and usually have 4 questions.

In OG passages, lines are numbered, is it the same in the real test?

also many of the OG passages consist of along one or two paragraphs which makes it harder for skimming approach people. any advice on that matter?

Yes in fact many of the arguably harder passages have fewer paragraphs. You can't quickly read the beginning of each paragraph..since there is only one. It will require a more skilled reading pass-through to get what's going on. Try the rc pill strategy.

Most exams will have 3-5 passages. It would be extremely unusually if you had passages outside of this range. Expect anywhere from 1-6 paragraphs per passage.

Hi everyone,

I tried to put things together. I was confused whether it's 4 or 5 RC.

But what is sure for me is that I got 3 really long articles and at least 1 medium length article. The length of CR questions are also longer than my last test. I got 710 Q50 V34 last time, but 660 Q50 V30 this time.

One article about gender and class, one about art, one about plant/astroids, and a shorter one about immigration.

I should retake!

You almost certainly got 4 passages, unless something went wrong with the GMAT software. The GMAT should always present a test taker with exactly 4 passages.

Congratulations on the 710, and all the best for the retake. :)
