Hi there.
M pretty new to the forum.
I was planning to write GMAT 2 weeks from now.
Eventually had to reschedule it due to not expected scores.
680
Quant-49
Verbal-34
I am targeting the score in the range of 730-740.
For that I guess I have to improve on my verbal part mostly.
How to push the score of verbal-34 to 42?
Kindly guide as m planning to write after a month..

Hi pravs,

First off, a 680/Q49 is a fantastic score (it's right around the 85th percentile overall), so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

http://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admission ... tants-124/

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi pravs, if you are getting almost 50% of CR answers incorrect, then the exam would perhaps not even bring up tough CR questions to you (courtesy the adaptive algorithm).

I meant that your analysis that you are not able to do tough CR questions might not be accurate.

Perhaps you are getting some even easy to moderate CR questions wrong.

So, CR definitely emerges as an area of improvement.

Hi
For CR, the best books are MGMAT guide and the Powerscore CR. You can pick either of them, study a week and then check your progress.

Hi pravs, assuming that you're planning for self-study, Powerscore CR Bible seems to be a popular resource for the theory part. For practice, this forum offers an almost limitless bounty:).

Also, in 3 GMATPrep tests, you have scored in 20s in Verbal. With an 80% accuracy that you've claimed in SC and RC, your Verbal scores look to be uncharacteristically low. Suggest you critically look at this again.

In any case, while you focus on CR, make sure you don't do this at the expense of SC and RC (and even Quant for that matter).

Between two successive attempts, I have seen sectional scores of test-takers wildly (not just mildly) fluctuating between various sections, because they have been just been fixated with preparing for just one section/sub-section.
