ScottTargetTestPrep Thanks for your detailed response. I will try to re-analyse closely the mistakes I have made in my mock tests and work it up from there.

Studies
1. I have been studying for 4 months now, I spend ~2 hours on daily basis. For the past month I have been solely focusing of taking mock tests and analyzing them.
2. For verbal - I have used a mix of GMAT Official Review questions & Manhattan Prep, and for quant - GMAT Official questions for quant, 700+ series & GMAT club questions
3. Here are my scores for the past 15 mocks
25/Jun/20 690 Q49 V34
30/Jun/20 660 Q49 V30
03/Jul/20 620 Q48 V27
08/Jul/20 650 Q47 V32
08/Jul/20 720 Q50 V37
10/Jul/20 680 Q48 V35
12/Jul/20 680 Q46 V38
15/Jul/20 580 Q48 V22
16/Jul/20 710 Q45 V42
16/Jul/20 690 Q46 V39
18/Jul/20 650 Q49 V29
19/Jul/20 660 Q48 V32
19/Jul/20 640 Q49 V28
28/Jul/20 710 Q50 V35
31/Jul/20 730 Q50 V39

As you can see, my test scores do not have a consistency and that is the reason I am really worried.

Goals:
1. I am trying to target anything above 720.
2. I am planning to book a date for next week. I will be taking a test center based test, not the at home GMAT.
3. I am targeting ISB in India, NYU Stern, UC Berkly, MIT Sloan, I plan to apply this year itself.

I have an option to take a week off from work to utilize as a boost up for prep. Would be really helpful if I could get some more tips on how I can use the time to meet my target score.

mike6789 Expert Global mock test series is good, it is really close to the official GMAT mock tests, however the official GMAT mock tests seemed slightly tougher to me. Nevertheless Expert Global gives the maximum number of tests for the buck as against its competitors.

Hi McViey,

To start, a CAT is really a 'measuring device' - when used correctly, it will give you a realistic score and help define your strengths and weaknesses, but it will NOT help you to fix any of those weaknesses. To raise your scores, you have to learn the necessary Tactics and put in the proper practice and repetitions. The CAT will show you whether your studies are helping you to improve or not. In addition, the process of taking (and reviewing) a CAT requires a significant amount of energy and effort - and takes time to 'recover' from. This is one of the reasons why you typically should not take more than 1 CAT per week - and your last CAT should be taken about 1 week before Test Day. You have taken 13 CATs this month (when you really should have taken no more than 4-5), so there's a reasonable chance that are you experiencing some 'burn out' at this point.

1) Have you used any other CATs/mocks besides the Experts Global tests? Are any of the results that you listed here from CATs that you had taken before?
2) If you have not scheduled your Official GMAT yet, then what time of day do you think that you will be starting your Exam? Have you been taking your CATs at a consistent time of day or has it varied?

Hi, I gave my official GMAT today, I scored 730 V40 Q50 IR 5.

Would like to know whether this score would be enough (other than my overall profile) to apply to ISB in India, NYU Stern, UC Berkly, MIT Sloan, Colombia. Would like to know your opinion on whether I would need a retake, aiming a better score?

To give a brief background. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant (equivalent to a CPA in US). I passed first class in college, high school and junior high. I was office bearer during high school. I have a work experience of ~3 years post qualification. I worked with Ernst & Young in consulting for 1.5 years and then joined my family business.

Hi McViey,

You have hit your Score Goal, so congratulations on that achievement! A 730/Q50 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is not necessary. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Congratulations on getting a 730! You can apply to the schools mentioned above.

All the best!

Nice work! I agree that you should reach out to one of the many admissions consultants here on GMAT Club to get some further advice.

Good luck with things moving forward.

Hi

I understand your frustration. I was going through the same thing when I was preparing for my GMAT,
If you are stuck between 680-700 range, you have to introspect the area, which is holding you to pass that barrier.

in my case It was RC, my RC accuracy was not that great.

Once you have found it, then work to improve that.

Note: Besides using mock, try Experts' Global complete prep series, their solutions to the problem really helps to find that weak area and sometimes gives you new perspective to solve things

I Hope, I am helpful to you in any way.
