Hi smritimalasi,

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Your 2 Official Score results show that you essentially performed the same each time (540 +/- a few Scaled points). These results show that you're treating the GMAT in the same general ways as you did before - you handle certain aspects of the Test consistently well, but you also make certain consistent mistakes. To score at a much higher level, you're going to need to change how you 'see' (and respond to) the GMAT.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
2) What is your goal score?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi

I have given GMAT twice. In the first attempt I scored 540 (Q42, V23) AWA 4. I decided to purchase e-gmat verbal course and gave GMAT after 5 months. I again scored 540(Q44, V21) AWA 5.5. In fact my number for Verbal decreased after going through all the concepts In e-GMAT Verbal course. I am not sure how can improve my Verbal. I was thinking of purchasing the Verbal Live but I know all the concepts already, so I am not sure what am I going to learn new in the Verbal Live course? I have already finished Manhattan courses and exams, GMAC tests, Official guide books and e-GMAT Verbal course. I am not sure what to do next to improve my Verbal scores.

Hi smritimalasi,

It's a great thing that you have taken the GMAT once. You can now consider it your base score and work on your weak areas. If you are willing to study dedicatedly, you are sure to achieve your goal. I believe you may benefit from taking a GMATPREP course. If you are willing, there are some great GMAT prep companies that can help you with your preparation.

In order to make an informed decision I would highly encourage you to go to their websites and try on their free trial and decide for yourself which one do you like better. You try out free access to EmpowerGMAT, Magoosh and Optimus Prep as they have great reviews on GMATCLUB.

Also for verbal, Your decision to go with e-gmat verbal live course is great. It is an amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market.

You can also try out the MGMAT guides they are phenomenal and cover the entire syllabus really well. For CR, Powerscore CR Bible is amazing. Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have a good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina and help you with your anxiety issues. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practise tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.

Lastly I would also encourage you to purchase the latest version of OG, the verbal review and GMATPREP QP1 for some great additional practice. Here is a link that will help you with your
