Hey gang,
I was wondering how I would go about negotiating an offer. I received 40k/year from a top 25 and no money from a school in the top 15. Do I call up the admissions office? Email? How did you go about doing this?

Dear adcom,
I'm excited to receive an offer. School X is my top choice. However, my financial well being is important to me. School Y has offered me $1 billion dollars, would you be willing to reconsider my scholarship?

Expand the above a bit, each school seems to have a different process. Some won't change your scholarship amount, some have a committee that will only reconsider on merit reasons (they won't care about your other offers), others will reconsider based on competing offers (generally it needs to be in the same tier it seems...can't use UCLA to get more money from Kellogg), etc.
