I took the GMAT on October 19th and received a disappointing score of 535. This was my fourth attempt, and I’m feeling quite frustrated after not only consistently scoring at a subpar level but also reaching a score plateau. Here’s a breakdown of my attempts over the past year:
- Attempt 1: October 25 - 630 (Q46, V30)
- Attempt 2: December 22 - 570 (Q44, V25)
- Attempt 3: January 31 - 570 (Q48, V21)
- Attempt 4: October 19 - 535 (Q79, V79, DI72) (ESR attached further)
For the first three attempts, I used the
e-GMAT course, and for my latest attempt, I revisited
e-GMAT materials and worked through the Official Guide practice questions for Verbal and DI.
I also completed the Official Practice Mocks leading up to my most recent test:
- Official Mock 1 (August 6): 545 (Q76, V80, DI75)
- Official Mock 2 (September 18): 595 (Q80, V83, DI75)
- Official Mock 3 (October 16): 605 (Q80, V80, DI80)
[*]Insights into my recent attempt :
Verbal has consistently been my weakest area in all my GMAT attempts, leaving me flustered and lacking confidence. Questions 5-7 included a Reading Comprehension passage that didn’t boost my confidence in my answers, which affected my performance on Questions 8 and 9, both of which I got wrong. After that, I struggled with time management and maintaining my composure for the subsequent questions.
I took a break after Verbal, and when I moved on to Quant, it felt manageable—similar to my experience in the official mocks.
However, during the Data Interpretation section, I spent too much time on Question 1 (MSR), which threw off my time management. I ended up rushing through the rest of the section as a resultant.
Given this experience, I’m looking for guidance on how to break through this score plateau and approach my next attempt differently in terms of study strategies and habits. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I intend on applying for Round 2, and really seeking insights for significant score improvement in the next 1 month.
Thank you so much, in anticipation
