How to postpone acceptance of offer to HEC MBA?

Hello Everyone, I received an offer from the September intake of the HEC MBA on February 5th. The process was very fast as I was preselected for interviews 5 days after applying, and received an offer 7 days after my last interview.
The issue is that I was given until March 3rd to accept/reject the offer while I'm waiting for some other replies (INSEAD and LBS). I completed the INSEAD interviews on Feb 15th, and I'm hoping to hear back between March 4th and 15th
Would you suggest me: 1. Asking for a 1 or 2 week extension before accepting the offer? If so what would be the best way to approach it? 2. Asking for a deferral to the January 2022 intake? In that case, wouldn't they also ask me to pay the deposit? 3. Other ideas?

Hello mate,
I am in a similar position.. I am accepted for Jan'22 intake, and I have applied for Jan'22 intake at INSEAD, but won't have a final decision until May, so for me is going to be almost impossible to delay the deposit payment until may, and I will probably pay it, and if after I get accepted at INSEAD I will be forced to lose that money.
However, it seems that for you is a matter of maybe 2 o 3 days, and I would say that the majority of the people who go through Interviews at Insead are accepted.. the hardest part is the preselection. So I would definitely try to delay either the intake as you said, or just try to delay the payment of the deposit for 1 week.. you can maybe try to say that you are working it out with your bank or something like that.. it is not going to be a problem I guess for 1 week delay.

Congratulations on your acceptance! I am also applying for the HEC MiF. Tough decision, I was in a similar situation as you for my MiF programs. I tried to ask and email the program director for an extension since I was still waiting for offers. But he just told me that “this years applicants are very competitive and there are a lot of people on wait list”. Hence, I was declined extension to accept my offer. I paid the sizeable deposit as an insurance/hedge and still waiting for other schools. My advice to you: try and ask for an extension from HEC and see what they say. Secondly, email INSEAD / LBS and tell them you got accepted from HEC, see if they can process your application sooner. Lastly, if all else fails and you want to play it safe to keep your spot, pay the deposit and wait for news from other schools

Zenith0rigin Thanks a lot for your suggestions. When asking for an extension, do you think it's better to be transparent and simply say that I'm waiting for another reply and I'd like to compare my options? Also I've informed my last interviewer at the end of the conversation that I already received the HEC offer for him to make a note the admission office

You could go for the route jglop said to talk about financial concerns and try to delay to pay. That’s an option. Or you could just be straight up and tell them you’re waiting for other schools. The only pros and cons are that they might react differently depending on their schools interest. Schools understand that we’re usually waiting for other offers as well but at the same time they don’t like delaying because it means they could move on to the next applicant if you were to go to another school later anyways so they might not be as nice. I think it’s up to you to see. Another edge you could pull is tell them you want to wait to see funding options from each schools and it’s a relevant concern
The safest option would be to pay the deposit at HEC and wait for other schools but before that, you can try emailing HEC Paris asking for an extension and INSEAD, etc asking for an early decision. _________________
