Danuthan, are you anywhere near Hanoi? I am a GMAT tutor based in Hanoi and can give you a free session if you think that would help.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your kind offer!

However, I'm currently in Thailand, and I won't be going back to Vietnam until September 2016.

I work mostly in Hai Doung province and Ho Chi Minh city. I've visited Hanoi only once, and that was during 2016 new year holiday.

May be we can catch up near the red bridge during September? :-D

Thanks,

DT

That would certainly be fun! September is a great time to visit Hanoi.

Yes! I already miss Pho and Banh Cuon!

Vietnam co nhiu gai dep!

I will not be going back to Vietnam until I get my GMAT sorted out.

Cam on.

Hi everyone,

I just finished drafting my study plan for the next 11 days.

Here are the list of topics that I will cover in my study and the what I'm going to do with them.

All questions will be from either OG 2016 or OG verbal review 2016.

1. IR - I will do 5 practice questions each day. The questions will be from the OG 2016 and the GMAT Prep Question Pack 1. 1 Hr (during lunch break)
2. Quan - I will do 10 practice questions per day for each of the topics below and will cover only 1 topic per day. (total time = 1 Hr. per day)
a. Geometry
b. FDPs
c. Algebra
d. Word problem
e. Number properties

3. Verbal

SC - I will review 1 topic per day + OG + review. (total time = 1 Hr. per day)
**For SC, I've summarized the rules on a 1-page A4 for each topic.
Topic
a. Subject verb
b. Verb
c. Pronouns
d. Modifiers
e. Parallelism
f. Comparison
g. Idioms

CR 10 Qs per topic per day + review (total time = 1 Hr. per day)
Topic
a. Structure based
b. Assumption
c. Strengthen/Weaken
d. Evaluate
e. Evidence
f. Wrong Answer

RC
I will do 2x passage per day + review. (total time = 1 Hr. per day)

This is my tentative plan that I will start tonight with SC.

I hope to put in 1 Hr lunch break + 4 hours after work per day.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

DT

Hi guys,

I took a full mock just now. I sat the mock at the same time (5:00 pm) that I will be sitting the real one on this coming Tuesday.

The score is 680, ir 6, Q47, V37.

I saw the 2 questions that I remembered per section. Except in IR and AWA.

For Verval section, I got CR 36, RC 39, and SC 37.

My impressions were that I solved CR and RC question much quicker than I did before by using the answer prediction method (thanks HanoiGMATtutor for your advice!), and it has improved my scores for these two parts significantly. I also developed a story telling method for my RC, which helped me answering main idea questions.

For SC, however, I ran out of time and guessed last 4 SC questions.

For SC questions, I had to guess between 2 choices for about 5 of the questions.

My energy level before the test was 70% as I had been studying nonstop since noon.

Overall, I'm quite happy with the result. I will keep practicing on OG untill tomorrow.

Any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks,

DT

Hi guys,

Pearson Vue just informed me that the test centre's server is down, and the test centre will be closed tomorrow.

I had to reschedule my test to the next available date, which is 27th July!!!!!!

I'm now hoping that someone cancel their appointment between now and my holiday, so that I can take their seat.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hard to give you much advice without knowing your actual test date. Since you can possibly take the exam any day now, I'd say spend time reviewing your practice exams and notes, and eat healthily and exercise moderately so you'll be in top physical and mental shape for the exam.

Thank you, and I will have a look at the link you provided.

Chances that I will be able to book an exam before this Friday are very low since Pearson is now offering special test appointments on 2 Saturdays, which are at 13th and 23rd of July, meaning that a lot of people are affected by this server breakdown and are probably looking to reschedule within this week. GMAT test is conducted, in Thailand, on normal weekdays only.

I guess I will have to sit the rescheduled test on 27th of July.

For the next two weeks or so, I will practice in OG verbal review 2016 and OG quantitative review 2016.

I will practice and try to improve the probability and number properties section in quantitative section.

I may sit one more mock before the test.

Thanks,

DT

Hi guys,

I just got out of the test center.

My score is IR3, 660 Q47, V34.

For IR part, I felt that I got more than 80% correct.

For Quan, I had to guessed 5-6 questions and I mistakenly answered one question incorrectly.

For Verbal, everthing went smoothly untill the last 10 questions when my heart was beating so repidly I couldnt hold myself together.

Im waiting for ESR to come online so I can have a look at how I did in details.

I'm thinking about a retake.

Thanks,

DT

Congrats! That's already an impressive improvement. Are you sure you want to spend another $250 on the GMAT?

Hi HanoiGMATtutor

I feel that my true ability is beyond 660, and my IR score can definitely be better.

These are the reasons why I'm considering a retake.

However, at this point I only have 2 months left for the first round applications.

Or should I send the schools an email asking about my score and what are their thoughts on it?

Thanks,

DT
