Here's a simple way to decide if you should retake. If your score on test day was more than 30 points lower than your average score on the official mocks, then by all means retake. Because your score is not a true score. But if you scored within 30 points of your mocks, then for the score to go up from here, you'll have to make some drastic changes to your prep. And that doesn't mean doing more questions, which is what most people end up doing.

What you can also do is expand your school list a little. By all means apply to the M7 but also apply to some lower ranked (relatively speaking) schools. There are some great schools in that list (and very difficult to get in as well). This obsession with M7 is driven a lot by peer pressure/social media. Don't fall prey to that.

"other option is to take the GRE - this is the exam that allows you to sort of sneak in under the radar if you have a solid profile"
Didn't quite get that part ^^

Hi. Congratulations on the 655.

To be sure and to direct, the average for the M7 is 685 and the average for the overrepresented pool is probably 705.

While the score is not everything and your profile is a lot more important, because there’s so many other people with similar profiles this is just too much of a difference to pull it up.

If GMAT it’s not something you can improve even with the new upcoming section order which by the way is going to make the average for the overrepresented group probably 725, your other option is to take the GRE - this is the exam that allows you to sort of sneak in under the radar if you have a solid profile
