(A) 240
(B) 260
(C) 280
(D) 520
(E) 530

CONCEPT: \(\frac{M*T}{W} = COnstant\)
10 M = 20B
i.1. 1 M = 2 B

\(\frac{20B*(20)}{(260)} = \frac{(16+4)B*(20)}{(W)}\)

i.e.\(W = 260\)

Answer: Option B

GMATinsight can you tell more about this concept?

(A) 240
(B) 260
(C) 280
(D) 520
(E) 530

Solution:

In 20 days, each man can make 260/10 = 26 mats, and each boy can make 260/20 = 13 mats. Therefore, the number of mats 8 men and 4 boys can make in 20 days is:

8 x 26 + 4 x 13 = 208 + 52 = 260

Alternate Solution:

Since 10 men and 20 boys can do the same amount of job in 20 days, 1 man is equivalent to 2 boys. Thus, 8 men and 4 boys do the same job as 10 men in 20 days, which is given to be 260 mats.
