(1) \(a^{2b} = 2^4\)

(2) \(ab = 2^2\)

Question: what is the value of \((8a^{6b} − 2) = 8(a^b)^6-2\)?

To answer this question we only need \(a^b\)

Statement 1: \(a^{2b} = 2^4\)

i.e. \((a^b)^2 = 16\)

i.e. \((a^b) = +4 or -4\) hence

BUT \(8(a^b)^6-2 = 8*4^6-2\)

SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: \(ab = 2^2\)

i.e. a*b = 4
i.e. a=1 and b=4 or a=4 and b=1 hence \(a^b\) will have multple values hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Answer: Option A
