Given: Circular garden with radius 3 feet, surrounded by circular sidewalk 2 feet wide.
Area of sidewalk =?
Area of sidewalk = Area of (garden + sidewalk) - Area of garden
Radius of (garden + sidewalk) = 3 + 2 = 5 feet
=> Area of (garden + sidewalk) = \(π * 5^2 = 25π\) sq. feet
Radius of garden = 3 feet
=> Area of garden = \(π * 3^2 = 9π\) sq. feet
Area of sidewalk = \(25π - 9π = 16π\) sq. feet.
So, correct answer is option E.
Area of sidewalk =?
Area of sidewalk = Area of (garden + sidewalk) - Area of garden
Radius of (garden + sidewalk) = 3 + 2 = 5 feet
=> Area of (garden + sidewalk) = \(π * 5^2 = 25π\) sq. feet
Radius of garden = 3 feet
=> Area of garden = \(π * 3^2 = 9π\) sq. feet
