If A is a prime number, what is the value of A?

Given to find the value of A.

Stat 1: 0 < A < 10 , if A is prime then we can take A as 2,3,5 and 7...Insufficient..no unique value.

Stat 2: (A - 2) is divisible by 3...here we can take any value to make the number divisible by 3.

for ex : if A = 5 , 11, etc... no unique value...Insufficient.

Stat 1 + Stat 2: Only A = 5 is divisible by 3...Other numbers are not.

IMO option C is correct answer.

It should be divisible by 3 not 2..I think typo mistake... Here I considered the number exactly divisible by 3. Though I got doubt that such EXACTLY statement is not given.

If that is the case A = 2, 3 are also divisible by 3 that leaves us 0 and 1 as reminders respectively...Taken your point...

(2) Could be 2 (2-2=0) or 5 (5-2=3) or 11 (11-2=9). Not sufficient.

(1)+(2) 3,7 fail to meet condition (2), leaving two choices, 2 or 5. Not Sufficient.

Answer is E.

Could be 5-2=3(div. by 3) or 11-2=9(div. by 3)

St1 & St2 = 0<A<10 & A-2= Div. by 3

It can only be 5. 5-2=3. 3/3=1
 It can't be 2. 2-2=0.

statement 2 => A can be 2 or 5 or maybe 101(yes 101 is prime and 101-2=99 is a multiple of 3) or anything else => not sufficient
