idiom - between X and Y

parallelism - building and gaining

making a note of these 2 points

A,B,C eliminated

D/E left

if presents hypothetical situations and makes more sense in this context
if a .. b is ...

in e should prof j 'be' accurate fits better than have been thus incorrect

IMO D.

first of all " correlation is a comparative word. IE. It should be followed by " between" if there are two things to be compared. Hence A and B wrong

C. That is possible is awkward

D. Clean and correct

E.have been... unnecessarily wordy

IMO D Bellow options are eliminated because of following reasons :-
A not parallel to non underline part after and
B we need condition here so if is needed eliminated
C again not parallel same as A
D perfect If-then verb is correct both present and parallel as no of is present
E eliminated as we need If.
