A. 1
B. 2
C. 3
D. 4
E. It cannot be determined from the information given

a number divisible by 15 would result in being divisible by 5 as well ...
so we will get remainder as 1 when n is divided by 5
IMO A

A. 1

D. 4
E. It cannot be determined from the information given

n/15 = x + 1

n = 15x + 1, where x is a integer.

n could be, 16 , 31 , 46.

Now divide n by 5.

In all cases , we have remainder 1.

Note: n yields a remainder 1 when divide by 15. Now 5 is a factor of 15. thus, remainder will be same in all cases.

A is the correct answer.

If the remainder is 1 when the positive integer n is divided by 15

Theory: Dividend = Divisor*Quotient + Remainder

n -> Dividend
15 -> Divisor
a -> Quotient (Assume)
1 -> Remainders

=> n = 15*a + 1 = 15a + 1

What is the remainder when n is divided by 5

n = 15a + 1 = 5*3a + 1
=> n when divided by 5 gives 3a as quotient and 1 as remainder

So, Answer will be A
Hope it helps!
