When n is divided by 15, the remainder is 1, then n can be 15n+1
When 15n+1 is divided by 5, the remainder is 5n+1.
1 is the remainder.

A is the answer.

n can be 16, 31, 46, 61..

In all the cases, the remainder will be 1 after division by 5

a number divisible by 15 would result in being divisible by 5 as well ...
so we will get remainder as 1 when n is divided by 5
IMO A

E. It cannot be determined from the information given

n/15 = x + 1

n = 15x + 1, where x is a integer.

n could be, 16 , 31 , 46.

Now divide n by 5.

In all cases , we have remainder 1.

Note: n yields a remainder 1 when divide by 15. Now 5 is a factor of 15. thus, remainder will be same in all cases.

A is the correct answer. Re: If the remainder is 1 when the integer n is divided by 15, what is the   [#permalink] 08 Mar 2019, 05:39
