I have tried an easier way to solve this question.

\(x^2 + 2x − 24 = 24\)

\(x^2 + 2x = 24 + 24\)

x (x+2) = 48.

Substitute each option.
Clearly 6 (6+2) = 48. x =6

Ans - D

\(x^2 + 2x - 48 = 0\)

Or, \(x^2 + x(8 - 6) - 48 = 0\)

Or, \(x^2 + x - 6x - 48 = 0\)

Or, \(x(x + 8) - 6(x + 8)= 0\)

Or, \((x - 6)(x + 8) = 0\)

Or, x = 6 and x = -8, Thus Answer must be (D)

Simplifying the equation, we have:

x^2 + 2x - 48 = 0

(x + 8)(x - 6) = 0

x = -8 or 6
