1. x is positive and integer
2. x< 50
Need to find out whether x is a prime number.
statement 1: when x is divided by 4 remainder is 3. So, what could be the value of x?
x= 3 , 7, 11, 15, 19, 23, 27, 31, 35, 39, 43, 47.
observe that 15 is not a prime. Thus statement 1 is not sufficient.
statement 2: it states that x is not divisible by neither 3 or 5. But there are several values of x below 50. x could be 2, 1, 11 , 16. So, insufficient. prime and composite both are there.
(1+2): If we take the value of x from statement 1 and apply statement 2, we will find that x is nothing but prime. Thus , both statements together are sufficient.
The best answer is C.
