From Statement 1

x^y = 64
Possible values are 2^6 or 4^3 or 8^2 or 64^1
Hence NS

From Statement 2:-

y^x=36
Possible values are 6^2 or 36^1
Hence NS

Combining Statement 1 and Statement 2
we get x=2, y=6
x+y=6+2=8

Hence C

(1) x^y = 64.
(2) y^x = 36.

(1) (x,y) can take (2,6), (-2,6) (4,3) (64,1), (8,2), (-8,2).
Insufficient

(2) (y,x) can take (6,2) (-6,2), (36,1)
Insufficient

On combining (x,y) (2,6) can hold x+y will be 8

C
