If x and y are the two digits of the number 653xy such that this number is divisible by 80, then x + y is equal to

(A) 2
(B) 3
(C) 4
(D) 6
(E) 8

All multiples of 80 would end with 0.
X should be such that 53X should be divisible by 8.

HENCE X Could be 6

Hence answer D

653xy is divivible by 80
=> 653xy divisible by 8 and 10
653xy divisible by 10=> y =0
653xy divisible by 8=> 3xy is divivible by 8
Only 320 is divivible by 8 => Answer A

Even then recheck your solution
According to your solution, even 320 is divided by 8 and hence it could be a possible answer.

You can refer my solution above.
Thanks.

Should be D

Any number divisible by 80 should end in 0. So y must be 0

We just need to check for what value of x is 653x divisible by 8. x=6 is the only one that satisfies. Hence D!
