If x is an integer and x^2 < 37

the greatest possible value of x will be 6

the least possible value of x will be -6

the greatest possible value of x minus the least possible value of x 6+6 = 12

Hence D

-6 & 6 are the least and greatest possible values of x. Hence difference of these two values is 12.

$$x^2$$ yields positive values all time. we must consider both positive and negative values of x.

x ( highest ) = 6
x ( lowest) = -6.

greatest possible value = 6 - (-6) = 12.

greatest value = 6
and least value = -6
so 6-(-6) = 12

since x2<37
greatest positive value of x =6
Least value = -6
6-(-6)=12

A. 5
B. 6
C. 10
D. 12
E. 36

36 is the square of 6
Therefore, the range lies between -6<x<6.

The largest integer x could be is 6, and the smallest it could be is -6. So the difference is 6 - (-6) = 12.
