After lurking around the forum for a bit, I have decided it is time to make a post and get more involved.
I am very open to, and would greatly appreciate, any advice or criticism regarding my study plan.
Materials:Quant - Targeted Test Prep, GMATClub Math Book & Forum
Verbal -
Manhattan Prep All The Verbal, OG 2020, GMATClub Grammar Book & Forum
I am at the end of Week 2 (of 15) and just took my first mock exam - it was a
Manhattan Prep CAT.
I scored a 600 overall (Q35 V36).
My studying has been strongly focused on Quant, as I knew that would be a weak area for me. I am not at all surprised to see a low number there. There are still concepts in Quant that I have not learned.
I study 2 to 3 hours per weekday and 5 hours Saturday and Sunday for a total of roughly 20 hours each week.
I have 13 weeks left to improve from this baseline up to my goal of 700+.
My plan is to continue to focus more on Quant with a roughly 2:1 ratio compared to Verbal. I plan to work my way through the entire TTP course. This is scheduled to take me the next 10 weeks.
For Verbal, I just started the
Manhattan Prep All The Verbal book and will follow the provided 9-week plan. Additionally, I read for fun so that may count for something. Currently reading a collection of Hemingway's short stories.
After this ~10 week period, I will direct my focus using mock exams. After taking a mock exam, I can see which areas are lacking and spend some time correcting those areas. Then I can take another mock exam and repeat the process. This will continue up until the actual test, leaving about a week gap before test day to avoid mental fatigue.
I have a few mock exams scheduled prior to the end of the 10 week period to check progress, but I am saving most of them for the end of my program. I figure it makes more sense for me to focus on getting a stronger grasp on the Quant concepts before taking a lot of CATs.
With the above plan in mind, do you think a 100+ improvement in score would be possible in a 13 week period? Do you see any faults in my approach that I should address? Are there any additional resources I might incorporate?
Looking forward to getting more involved in this online community.
