In △ABC, what is ∠A ?

(1) △ABC is isosceles.

We don't know anything about the measure of the angles.
A = 40 , B = 40 , C = 100
A = 45, B = 45, C = 90
Not sufficient. A can take countless values here.

(2) ∠B = 45°
A + C = 135
Again A could take any values.
Not sufficient

Combining both:
△ABC is isosceles and ∠B = 45°
Let AB = AC
angle B = angle C
then A = 90

If Ac = BC
B = A = 45
A = 45

Still different values
Not sufficient

IMO E,

As we don't know which are equal angles.

1) ABC = Isosceles
2 sides are equal - Insufficient!
2)B = 45, A and C can be anything - Insufficient!
Combining (1) & (2):
A = B = 45
C = 90 or
B = C = 45
A = 90 - 2 different values of A - Insufficient!
IMO, (E)!
