(1) Total number of gold, and silver coins in the cave are 400
(2) The probability of finding a silver coin in the cave is \(\frac{1}{40}\)
(1) Total number of gold, and silver coins in the cave are 400
(2) The probability of finding a silver coin in the cave is \(\frac{1}{40}\)
1st - Total = g+s = 400.
2nd - Probability of finding silver = s / Total (from 1st condition we can use this) = 1/40 = 10/400 form this we can get s = 10
Therefore g = 400 - s = 400 - 10 = 390.
Hence C.

Question: g = ?
Statement 1: g+s = 400
NOT SUFFICIENT
Statement 2: P(s) = s/(g+s) = 1/40
NOT SUFFICIENT
Combining the statements
s/(g+s) = 1/40 and (g+s) = 400
s/400 = 1/40
i.e. s = 10
i.e. g = 400-10 = 390
SUFFICIENT
Answer: Option C
