Hey, the question asks what can strengthen the notion that country X will need to import either fish oil or fish or both.

Statement A proves that people are not moving towards plant based foods and products and hence the rise in consumption will definitely happen. And country X would need to import fish or fish oil or both.

Statement B actually weakens the notion since it talks about expanding the facilities. This way, the country would not have to import.

Hope this helps.

As stated in option A, people are not going vegan. But how can we be so sure that anti-veganism makes people greater fish consumers? They can consume other types of meats too.

I chose B because the government has changed its policies to allow for the expansion of fish oil production facilities. We already know that X's production is not sufficient, but the government is allowing expansion. This means they are importing fish or fish oil or both.

Bunuel Kindly clarify my doubt.

In country X, the production of fish and fish oil over the last decade have been barely sufficient to meet the domestic demand. However, due to a recent rise in health consciousness among the people of this country, fish oil consumption has been on the rise. A considerable amount of fish is required to produce fish oil. Therefore, since production of fish is not increasing anytime soon, the country needs to import either fish oil or fish or both.

Which of the following strengthens the notion that country X would still need to import either fish oil or fish or both?

A. Even though there has been a globally increasing trend of veganism – a lifestyle that involves consumption of only plant-based foods and products, hardly anyone from country X has subscribed to a plant-based lifestyle.

B. To address the increasing demand for fish oil, changes have been made to government policies in order to allow for expansion of fish oil production facilities.

C. Government aid is being provided to fish farmers to help them purchase the latest fishing equipment which is most effective in catching fish.

D. Import of aquatic animals and their products is heavily regulated in various countries across the world including country X.

E. As people of country X prefer fish to prawn, import of fish negatively impacts the local shrimp industry

Hi,

The only counter to the reasoning i thought was that the notion is about expanding " fish oil production facilities " and we need to stregthen the argument that the country X needs to import either fish OR fish oil. So if fish oil production factories are going to increase then surely the supply would be fulfilled somehow and as stated in the premise that " over the last decade have been barely sufficient to meet the domestic demand " so thats where the import of fish comes into the picture.

My choice would have been A if not for the reasoning above.
