3.The range of annual average contributions per member was greater than the largest average contribution per member for any of those fiscal years.

How it is possible? Range= 1296(3500000/2700 for '97)-around 90(for '05)= 1206... but that is lesser than the higest average contribution (1296)..

please help me to understand it

For question 1, can't you say that there is more time dedicated? in that the radio station used to be all jazz (hence 100% of the time) versus now, which jazz has to share time with classical music broadcast

WEEKDAYS: Classical 6h-18h___ Jazz: 18h-6h
SAT:_______Classical: daytime (except Talkshow 30min & Artnews 40min)
SUN:_______________________Jazz or Gospel until 15h

1. For each of the following options, select Supported if it can be reasonably inferred from the information in the tabs. Otherwise, select Not supported.

After the acquisition of WFLN’s programming, WRTI allocated more time per week to classical music than to jazz. => Not Supported

During weekdays: Classical was allocated 12 hours air time and Jazz got 12 hours
Sat: Classical got daytime (less 0.5 + 0.67 hours for talkshow and artnews). We do not know whether the remaining time is devoted to Jazz

Sun: Jazz got day time hours until 15h. We do not know about how the remaining time is allocated

==> There is not sufficient info

From 1997 through 2005, WFLN had a greater percent increase in its number of total listeners than in its number of total members. => Not Supported

Total listeners in 2005 compared to 1997: \(\frac{19.3}{6.5} = 2.96\)

Total members in 2005 compared to 1997: \(\frac{15000}{3371} = 4.44 > 2.96\)

The average contribution per member was approximately the same for the 1997 fiscal year and the 2005 fiscal year.=> Supported

Total contributions = Contributions per member * Membership

In 2005: Contributions per member = \(\frac{1200 * 10^3}{15 * 10^3} = 80\)

In 1997: Contribution per member = \(\frac{300 * 10^3}{3.8 * 10^3} = 78\)

2. For each of the following statements, select Positive if the information in the table accurately describes a variable that can be inferred from information in the tabs to have had a positive impact on WRTI membership or member contributions. Otherwise, select No clear impact.

An increase in average membership contributions. => No clear impact
This is the result of the change in WRTI membership or member contributions, not a factor impacting these,

Lack of direct competition. => Positive
"WRTI’s swift move not only prevented the demise of classical music radio in the nation’s sixth largest market"

Staff hires. => Positive
"To manage the expansion, the station hired a chief financial officer in 1999 and a membership director in 2001. Both members and contributions rose following these staff additions."

3. Which of the following statements regarding WRTI from 1997 to 2005 is best supported by the information in tabs 2 and 3?
(Dont get why the answer is C, below is my explanation)

Its share of the terrestrial radio market increased.
The exact share relative to the entire market is not provided.

Number of members has increased faster than total contributions for the period of those fiscal years.

% Increase in number of members: \(\frac{15 * 10^3}{3.9 * 10^3} = 3.8\)

% Increase in contributions: \(\frac{1200 * 10^3}{300*10^3} = 4 > 3.8\)

The range of annual average contributions per member was greater than the largest average contribution per member for any of those fiscal years ???

Contribution per member in any year is a positive number

=> The range is always smaller than the largest number

More total money was brought in contributions in years with more than $1,000,000 in contributions than in years with fewer than $1,000,000 in contributions.

Total money in years with > $1M contributions (the last 3 years): 1.2 + 1.15 + 1.1 = 3.45 (M)

Total money in years with < $1M: 900 + 800 + 600 + 800 + 500 + 400 + 300 + 300 = 4600 (K) = 4.6 (M)

Only individuals were allowed to be members. => Not mentioned
