Wondering if a FTMBA is worth it for me. Already well established in my career. Want to get an MBA for the intellectual vigor, social capital and jobs down the road... but, I'm concerned that I may be wasting my money in a FT program or taking a step back by leaving O&G for two years.
Bio:
29M, 770 GMAT
Income: $220k annual (salary + bonus) + $40k annual restricted stock. Great work life balance.
Petroleum (Reservoir) Engineer with a Masters already
5.1 years Industry experience (today)
Would like to eventually transition into slightly more finance heavy O&G roles in Corporate Development, Private Equity, or (at VP level) IB. Not an unrealistic expectation for Reservoir Engineers with a couple more (8+) years' experience. An MBA obviously helps.
Live in Austin and have not been impressed by my visits to the McCombs PT program. Tried FT cycle for Fall-2017 start and got Booth as my best admit. Probably too young for strong EMBA programs? (plus $$$)
