Re: In the Internet Age, a political candidate who buys [#permalink]
aditya8062 wrote:
D it is: For maximum name recognition a candidate need not spend on media channels other than social network advertising.

faults with others :
(A) Social network advertising is the most important factor in political campaigns.

(B) Maximum name recognition on a social networking website will help a candidate to win a higher percentage of votes cast.

(C) Social network advertising reaches every demographically distinct sector of the voting population.

(D) For maximum name recognition a candidate need not spend on media channels other than social network advertising.------>correct

(E) A candidate's record of achievement will do little to affect his or her name recognition.----->no where it is mentioned

Hi aditya8062,
Can you elaborate your reasonings? I picked C and eliminated D because media channels & expenditure is not mentioned in the argument.

Thanks

the fact that "In the Internet Age, a political candidate who buys advertising on a social network will get maximum name recognition" is INDICATIVE of the FACT For maximum name recognition a candidate need not spend on media channels other than social network advertising-----> there is no need to get confused as whether "media channels" is mentioned or not . it is just a comparison that can be drawn

why C is wrong?

C says: Social network advertising reaches every demographically distinct sector of the voting population.----------> this cannot be concluded . the fact that "In the Internet Age, a political candidate who buys advertising on a social network will get maximum name recognition" is NOT INDICATIVE of the FACT that social network will reach "every where" . YOU might have a situation where social media does not reach a "village" but then, who knows, that "village" might constitute just 1% of total !!

Apart from reasoning provided by aditya8062.

This looks like an inference question and it is better (not necessary) to avoid strong conclusion.

(D) For maximum name recognition a candidate need not spend on media channels other than social network advertising.
