any idea on any autonomous exams conducted by any management institutions for one year or two year MBA programs? it will be good to take them for people scoring in 550 to 650 range in GMAT to take these exams as fall back options--------

XLRI (XAT),FMS,SOPJAIN's global mba with spjains exam,SNAP,Narsee monjee,JMET but XLRI,FMS are the only colleges which can add value to a person having 4+ yrs of exp and they are excellent options.In fact they cant be called option ,they are as good as any college can be.Only that there r no studies at FMS but there is the assurance that u would get a country head profile or so when u pass out

I have heard that studies at FMS is full of fun...no hectic schedules, but still excellent placements that are comparable to IIMS.

Munda what are your views for SPJAIN? I plan for Indian schools as a backup and m considering only IIMs, IIFT and FMS. I might give XAT for XLRI as well. But I m little confused about the NON IIM's under CAT such as NITIE/SPJAIN or Narsee Monjee under NMAT.

SPJain and Nitie are good colleges no doubt but they have their stregths.

SPJain (2 yr prog.)is great for Finance but the admisiion process is based on profile.They wont call someone unless he or her has won a gold medal in some academic discipline or a state level player in some sport.
Spjain global 1 yr program is a bit easier to get into.
If you want to study supply manangement , Nitie is great but again it being a govt college,its adminstrated by a bunch of idiotic IAS officers .It falls under the ambit of HRD ,Govt of India and the management is totally lackadaisical.
The teachers(visitig faculty) are averse to adopting new teaching methods.I had almost converted it when the management there decided to victimize me by their bureaucratic,hypocritic,autocratic adherence to policies.
Its difficult to get into core finance from NITIE.JPmorgan,HSBC,Deutsch come for Ops.
But Nitie is good irrespective of any misgivings that i may harbour against it.
NMIMS is nowehere compared with SPJain/Nitie.Not all ppl got summer placements there last yr.Many had to use their own contacts.Its more into money spinning.But it still has a cleaner profile than lots of other colleges.

Thanks for the comments, you have a lot of knowledge about India B schools. You must have done a lot of homework.

It will be really too much to ask, but I would really nice to hear comments about other top colleges as well.

eg. IIFT, MDI, Jamnalal Bajaj, SIBM.

I havnt done any homework,i did classwork.I know cos i got calls and couldnt make it thru the i/v or lost my way in the WL due to policies.
JBIMS is thru MHCET.Only abt 10-15 seats are for non-maharashtra.
I missed sibm by 1 mark in overall .All my sectionsal were clear.I was called by scmhrd
I dont have a good opinion bt MDI cos they could tell that i would not make a good MBA because i could not tell them about education policies introduced in the budget.

I didnt try for IIFT.

My exam went good, but later came to know about 21 verbal ability questions were repeated from 2004-05 papers. Most of the students had done those papers and thus,in turn, the cut-off skewed.
Just after the FMS I had feeling that I would get the call, but because of those 21 questions I m sure I won't.

CAT is unpredictable, thus I can not comment. I have neither done well on Gmat- 670 Q49 V31.

So overall nothing good. But I won;t give up.I would start my second innings in Jan mid.

How about you?

i had times myself at a preplanned speed which i thought would suffice.a quest 1 minute.What a farce it was.I did stick to my plan but the people tore the paper apart .
The 2004 paper was the only 1 i didnt do.
If you have 400 + , u are safe.
If you have 380 +, u can be optimistic.
If u have 360 + u can still be positive
Man, 500 + scores have really pissed me off. What the hell was i doing.I was like a machine.I will not get an astronomical score.Only that the tables were turned on me.
Cat : I got a sick LRDI section.It wasnt as good as it was last year.

LRDI was tuf .They didnt normalize enuf.It scrwed my breakup.
Last yr i was eligible for Nitie,mdi etc
This year i will miss nitie by .8 %ile
