Hi All, I am a reapplicant for the Jan 2011 intake and any views on reapplication would be greatly appreciated.

I was waitlisted for Jan 2010 and got a ding at the very last minute - on 3rd Dec!

Does anyone know how INSEAD views reapplicants? Would the fact that I was waitlisted last time give me any edge in this round? Also, what is it that they would look at in the reapplication essay?

I will be reapplying in the Mar 10 deadline.

I am not sure INSEAD has a slant on reapplicants. But as a reapplicant the general rule should work. i.e., You were dinged for some perceived shortcoming(s) - were you able to identify them, and secondly were you able to do anything to address them?

Considering you were dinged on Dec 3rd and applied sometime in Sept? What have you done between Sept-Mar that makes you think you would be successful this time around? If you feel like you have, than by all means reapply and focus your essay on how you have strengthened your application.

Thanks, monkeypunch. That's the only one I found, funny they wouldn't change a single question for six years, but oh well.

I have a very similar query, I think I might not make it to the first round
how does it effect my chances with INSEAD if I apply in R2.

My profile is also not very glorious, comparitively.
WEx - 4.5 years IT/ 1.5 yrs exp in UK
GMAT - 730/5.0
IELTS - 8.0
Acads - 78% B.E. from BIT, Mesra.
ECs - not much

Any input is appreciated.

Cheers,
Vivek

Does anyone know if there is a word limit for the recommendations?

My recommender said he wrote quite a lot, and it let him paste into the text box, but he hasn't hit submit yet.

Something I read on a blog indicated that there might be limits (though it's not specifically said for INSEAD.)

I plan to apply to the Jan '11 class and am interested in the area of invesmtment management. I was going through their website and found that firms like Fidelity do recruit from here. However, I could not find any student clubs which are linked to investment management.

Although INSEAD is not the first school that one considers for investment management, the one year programme makes it a very attractive proposition.

Would someone on this forum be able to shed some light on the pros and cons of going to INSEAD, if one is considering a career in investment management?

monkeypunch asked a great question? anyone?

My recommender told me that he is concerned that some of what he wrote may have gotten cut off by the PDF. He says that once he starts typing and once he gets to a certain length, there will be arrows on the side for him to scroll up and down. That's all good because you'll be able to see the information if you scroll up and down. However, he tried to print a copy for his records, and when he did that, the printout only shows what's on the screen, giving the impression that 50% of the information is gone. Is the information gone? Are there word limits for the recommendation?

My recommenders told me they wrote "a fair bit" but they didn't print or do any PDF'ing so not really sure. I would suggest that you tell them to write what they think is true and representative of you. If your recommenders are anything like the majority, they won't have time to sit and edit it over and over like us applicants do for our essays.

Having said that, I'm all done and submitted :)

although my PDF did crash midway because of some annoying vista error!! I did receive my application receipt.

it says that i have completed 76 of 77 required fields when I hit the "check your progress" button. I looked and looked and looked and can't seem to find the last step. What is this last field? Anyone?

Well, in my case there was no appropriate "Job function" (professional background chapter) in the given list and I had to specify it in the "Other, please specify" field. The trick was not only to fill the field, but to check the box itself as well.
Or it can be a field with your signature on the last page..
