gr8two: You can twist the logic any way you want, but bnkhan's advice was spot on. 680 on GMAT in R3 is very very tough. Semantics don't really matter **** at that point. He obviously thought "brazas" was applying to R3, as I would have thought too, so only that part was an honest mistake. Brazas, in my humble opinion, you would have a better chance in R1 than R3. And considering you are applying to R1 of Sep 12 intake, I suppose this is a moot point. Good luck.

GMAT is not a deal maker but it for sure can be a deal breaker. If one has a very unique profile (plus good essays & recommendations), then he/she can get through with low GMAT, whichever the round may be.
(Fact:Odds of getting through any good B school in R3 are low compared to those in R1).
But if one has a generic profile (IT/consulting/Banking) and belongs to competitive Indian/US pool, then 680 GMAT and R3, in simple terms, in most cases, would be equivalent to DING except when one has recommendation from Prime Minister/President or one is internationally acclaimed figure or one has written jaw dropping essays :D
Good decision by brazas. You have better odds to getting through in R1 than in R3.
