Anyone applied to the January 2012 intake in round 2 and was already invited to an interview?

Based on past data and a quick estimate, I would not expect any interview invitations prior to the 11th of July.

It's been awfully quiet here....

Can someone tell me how acceptances and dings go out? I.e. If one is dinged, doesthis happen after the interview deadlines or would we expect to hear before that too? I'm just trying to figure out if an email from insead before the july21st deadline would be a good thing or not.....

my understanding is that if a person is dinged, then he/she receives no email at all. and no feedback. can anyone confirm?

Not sure about the feedback, but if you're dinged I'm pretty certain they'd send a message telling you you're dinged. I don't think they ding people by phone (or I hope they don't). How awkward would that be...

My question was more around the following - does EVERY applicant have a response (whether positive or negative) before July 22? OR, do the dings only realize at midnight on July 22 ( by way of no email from INSEAD) that they haven't made it?

I believe everyone will get a reply by or on the 22nd of July either positive or negative. So, receiving the email only means that the wait is over. The content could be either positive or negative.

I really hope so. the wait is nerve-wracking!

maybe i can ask you this question - will EVERYONE get an email before the 23rd of July? or is it only the ones being interviewed who will get an email (and therefore the dinged are formally notified after the 23rd?)??

i've asked this question before but the responses have not been clear.

Hmm, I thought I made it clear in my earlier post. Let me try again.

You will get an email. Contents could be "Congratulations, blah blah" or "We are very sorry, blah blah". But you WILL get an email, by the date mentioned on the website. Mails start going out 3 days before the deadline, interviews and dings both. They don't necessarily leave dings for the last day or anything. So someone could get a ding on Wednesday and another one might get a ding on Friday, same way for interview selection also.

Now the exceptions: in very few cases, the co-ordinator will call regarding interview selection. Not for dings but only for interview selections. Don't know what it means though. But it might happen.

All right, hope that clears it up.

I am considering applying to Insead in Rd 3 for the January intake. I had an unsuccessful attempt for the year 2011. I will have to tweak some of my essays and have the base material ready.

I wanted to know whether it is worth applying in Rd 3. Do we have any data of acceptance rate of Rd 3? Is anybody else in a similar boat?

hey guys,
bumped into the thread this morning. checked and found the Round 3 deadline is still active.
although, i havent paced myself for a serious contention of an MBA immediately but i want to tryout this Winter 2012 season. I understand the application process isn't a honeymoon affair, but i think i can make it with the pre-requisites.R3 is supposedly the most competitive. Here's a short synopsis. a candid assessment from you guys will help, as you might have been exposed to numerous and are best to give out a ruling.

1. GRE - dated 2009, 720
2. Working since graduating from college for the last 2 yrs with Microsoft Corp. currently as a Senior Software Design Engineer. Worked 1 yrs during the initial period in India at IDC, Hyderabad, currently since last 10 months in Singapore. Handled e-gov project for MS's Europe Division in the past but only in a short stint of 4 month prior to SG. Worked closely (independently) with the Chief Operating Officer.

Internship during my college final year include @ Oracle-HP's Centre of Excellence of E-gov for 8 weeks.

3. Graduation in Engineering, CGPA 9.2 on a base of 10 but not from a premier college!:( [ i have had a grad deg in Mathematics from Delhi University, it was distance mode : not sure if thats useful]
4. Co-curriculars involve social activism, NGOs. ( but those are thorough and not just seasonal)
5. Awards include notably, the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India's Excellence for Innovation, the Imagine Cup and the International Math Olympiad (bronze) back in the Secondary School.
6. High Schools ( 10th and 12th) results are in the high 90's
7. Had a startup software Co. with friends , but parted. Will that count?

R3 is fierce. A candid assessment would help. PM is encouraged. Thanks for your time reading.

based on my experience - R3 is close to impossible.....especially if you are reapplying......from what I've seen on other sites...seems like 70-80 admits go out for R3 vs the 200+ in R1 and the 170+ in R2. Its almost better to wait until R1 for September and then apply.

I guess this could be an issue if the 8 week summer internship is one of your priorities.

I'll give you my assessment, but take it with a grain of salt! I am by no means an expert.

With a cursory look, I would suggest you not apply in R3, but wait for R1 for September intake. R3 is very competitive, very little chance of scholarship, etc etc. And considering you are just doing it for a lark, you must be way behind on your essays, even if you have started. Essays are important!

Looking deeper, you seem to be light on experience. I would suggest at least 2 more years of work ex. Since you fall in the dreaded Indian IT Male category, things are tough as it is. With less work ex you would be at a disadvantage. Your GMAT is ok. The average is 710 or thereabouts, but being an India better bump the average at least 20 points if not more.

Doesn't mean you can't get in, but it'll be tough! I got in with a 720 too, but have nearly 7 years of work ex (5.5 in US and Europe) and am not from the IT domain.

Regarding the start up? I would lead with that! How did you bring it together, why did it fall apart, etc! One failed startup experience is worth many in a regular job.

Rest of your profile is pretty good. Hope that helps.
