I don't have anywhere close to 90k :D. I depend on loans also. But I was talking about his money... I assumed that's the one he is afraid of. No matter how much money does he have, if he have the option to exchange it in Euro, problem solved. But I understand that in India no one can have a bank account in a different currency than a rupee, which is a big difference and his worries are well founded. For me it was just unimaginable such a scenario... sorry mate for my ignorance.

Out of general curiosity.. Other than the EU.. Does any other region or country have this option of being able to save their money in a different currency in banks?

Posted from my mobile device

I know for sure that this option exists in Ukraine and Russia. I actually use it converting my salary into euro every time.

I've been on this forum a few times in my anxiety to see if any R2 candidates have heard anything as yet so I think it's only fair that I post this. I received the following from SH about an hour ago:

"I have the pleasure of informing you that your application has been processed for the Class of December 2014 Round 2, starting in January 2014, and I am very pleased to let you know that you have been pre-selected for interview."

Same here! Just got the pre select interview note! TC is my coordinator! Good luck guys!

Whoa! Congratulations. When did you submit your application and where are you based out of?

Anyone from Singapore has updates?

I'm from Singapore too, and no, still waiting..my coordinator JS told me my 2nd reference letter was submitted one day late..finger crossed..

They accepted your application for round 2 ? I asked the adcom if reco can be submitted later and they said everything by 12th midnight to consider it for round 2. I generated the links a bit late but kept pressing my recommenders to submit atleast a day before !

Well they were ok with one of my recos being late as one of my recommenders said there was a possibility he might be late. I had mailed the adcom and they said inform us before head.. And we can consider only one day delay. Fortunately even that reco went on time, but otherwise I think they consider giving max one day extra for recos else its considered for next round..

yah, my coordinator told me they will review mine in R2, but cant guarantee a result by the notification deadline and will not be able to give me priority for my campus selection..it was a long story... My referee was on urgent leave for 2 weeks. So I called up the Singapore admissions office telling her my situation and trying to find out how strict this reference submission is for INSEAD because on some other B School website, they did mention references can be submitted after application submission. and i really didn't want to pester my referee too much.

The officer told me, reference letter late for 1 day is fine but i need to email them after i submit my part and when my reference is finally submitted. i text my referee, submit today, if not, tomorrow worst case.. but what was worse, he confused my INSEAD application with another one...he submitted the other one that day and INSEAD the next day...but well, there is nothing I can do now but wait :)

I would expect an email or a phone call at the last minute!! Reminder of a message I posted here a couple of weeks ago...PM me if you want more details!

I'm a current student at INSEAD and wanted to share a couple of things with you (I had always told myself I would do this one day, seeing how much I've used this forum throughout the whole admissions process). I know these are stressful times, and that you probably have 1000 questions that you want exact answers to . I'll try and answer a couple here regarding the first stage of the application; if the feedback is positive, I'll try and add to this list (especially regarding the interview process):

1) It does not matter who your coordinator is. Whether it's Valerie, Caroline or anyone else...they are all super friendly. Who you get depends on your location / profile.

2) It is not them (or at least not them only) who make the decision as to whether you are accepted or not. To my knowledge, coordinators receive your application and make sure that all is in order (ie. all transcripts are included, all essays have been included, official GMAT scores have been sent...etc). See it as a sanity check. They are an extremely important part of the process, seeing the extremely high number of application INSEAD receives. If anything is wrong with your application (ie. there is a document missing), chances are they WILL get in touch to try and resolve the issue (provided it's an honest mistake of course).

3) Interview notifications (and rejection emails) are usually sent out in the final week of the process (right before the dreaded "interview notification deadline"). It is very common to receive a positive email on the actual day of the deadline. No need to refresh your Inbox every minute of every day - you're better off preparing for those interviews

4) Confirmation emails notifying you that your application has been received are usually sent out a couple of days after you've submitted it (especially if you've submitted it last minute). At this stage, no need to do more than simply acknowledge that email with a simple "Thank you".

Cheers,
Matt

Hi,

I just go an email from Valerie. Which basically says 'the committee likes your profile and you'd get selected for an interview, BUT your GMAT score is too weak' :
"The Admissions Committee has decided that your current GMAT / GRE scores do not correlate well with the overall quality of your application, and we would therefore request that you retake this test. "
So, to still get into Jan14 intake, I'd have to take the GMAT ASAP again and submit the score before 7th August.
My last GMAT was a 640 (v 38, q39) and they feel like I should reach the 70% in my quant.

Has anybody experienced this before?
I'm not sure if I should rush into the GMAT again within the next 20 days to make it into Jan14, or take my time and be considered in round1 for Sept14.

What do you guys think?

I know a friend who got a similar mail. He gave the gmat again, got a decent score and got admitted. If I were you, I would take my gmat again rather than wait for September. The fact that you received that mail means that they like you. The ball's in your court. Also, by giving your gmat again you will underline your keenness for INSEAD. Just my thoughts..

Really depends on your profile - do you have a quantitative background (studied science? maths? worked in an analytical job?). Can one argue that you just had a bad day? Or should they be right to worry about your analytical abilities? Also, have you taken the gmat before? How were you doing on mock tests?

Depending on the answers to these questions, it could be a good idea to retake it asap. If these are more negative (ie. chances of you not scoring a better score are low), then I would wait til September.
If you want to discuss in more detail send me a PM, otherwise best of luck!

Tough situation man. If you are really committed for INSEAD you would do it (For me INSEAD is my 1st and only choice and I would have given the test asap). Take leave from office, study day and night and get a better score. But then, if you are not prepared well, and you get a low score again then I dont know what would be the committee's decision + it can impact chances in other schools as well.
