1. Significantly fewer candidates were admitted in R1 this year (209 on MBAConnect on August 5th) compared to 2013 (243 on august 1st) and 2012 (285 on august 6th).

a quote from INSEAD Waitlist - January 2014 intake discussion. I guess it is also a good sign to all R2 and R3 applicants.

BTW, yesterday was the deadline for R3 to submit applications. Though, R3 guys are somewhat quiet at least on this forum.

Where did you get that quote from ? At N number of places I have read INSEAD religiously follow the equal intakes for different rounds. I somehow feel any stats doesnt matter at all. If your profile is a right fit you ll be in. Only people justified to think about stats would be Indians (and the most, Indian male) I believe :-D

The quote is from my post on the jan 2014 waitlist thread. Here is the full post:

I don't know if someone was accepted from the waitlist for jan 2014, but noticed two interesting facts when I read the threads from last years:
1. Significantly fewer candidates were admitted in R1 this year (209 on MBAConnect on August 5th) compared to 2013 (243 on august 1st) and 2012 (285 on august 6th).
2. In 2012, apparently very few people went off the waitlist. In 2013, there was a group of people accepted on august 23rd.

Let's be positive: I hope this means good news are coming soon for all of us!

I'm just pointing out data that I found in the "Calling all applicants" gmat club forum threads from last years, wondering if it is relevant or not...

Hi, garsh.
What is "Expectations of INSEAD"?
Did you say, I expect to learn X skills and develop Y networks to achieve my goals?

Is it something like Why INSEAD Question?

garsh84
Hi guys,

I am new on this forum - also a R2 applicant.

Last week I completed both interviews. I believe both of them went quite well. The usual questions on why MBA, why INSEAD, other schools, financing MBA, my hobbies, expectations of INSEAD. Both interviewers were informal and friendly - I even felt overdressed wearing a suite.

Besides, I want to share something that most of you might find helpful. An acquaintance of mine, a graduate of INSEAD, recently completed an interview with a candidate and shared with me how he was instructed to do the interviews. Basically, the interviewers are provided with a set of open questions - motivation for MBA, international experience, career progression and similar stuff. Then, it is up to them to decide how they ask those questions - because they will have to fill in the form. So, no bad/good cop scenarios and similar stuff. I am also surprised seeing in the forum interview reports that say no 3 whys! At the end of the form, the interviewers have to select one of the options: strongly recommend, recommend, neither, do not recommend.

Another thing that one of my interviewers told me - they are not allowed to give feedback to candidates.

Alright, good luck to all of you! I hope to meet many of you at INSEAD.

Thank you ducceus.

Also, could someone tell me how to check if your recommendations have been all submitted with the online application? Do you receive an email when your recommender submits his form?

I don't remember receiving one, only the recommenders receive a mail. You can only see the status of your recommendations after you have uploaded your application I believe.

Robisrojis is right, your application status is the Only Way to monitor your recommandations.

The new online application doesn't show anything about recommendation status. It only shows whether your application has been submitted or not, no idea whether they received anything else like recommendations....anyone else have this issue?

Also, do you guys know if the recommenders can edit/retract their recommendations forms after they've uploaded it?

TIll the 2nd round, recommenders were not allowed to edit once submitted. Cant you ask your recommender if he/she has received the confirmation of submission, thats the best way to know. Both my recommender forwarded me the confirmation mail. Once your complete application has been submitted your coordinator will write to you within a week if they have received everything of your application.

Currently located in France, originally from Brussels. 3 yrs we in engineering. Planning for a Fonty start, but wouldn't say no if Singy were the only option. Don't know if it happens often though, that they don't follow your preference.
