Most business schools accept self reported scores at the time of application submission.

And you have to report official scores once you get an admission.

You have to check with the adcom or the school website to be sure.

I noticed this in the recording where the presenter said, ’Your GMAT score would NOT be the only reason for rejection of an application’. Is this really true?

aeydinath, all top bschools say its holistic that means they will think of a decision on multiple factors. And my point of view is that only students who are serious give GMAT and this really helps filters out the competition at the top bschools across the world.

I will tell you where I am coming from, I got anxious during my GMAT and ended up scoring way less than I was scoring on official practise tests. I have booked date for next test but that means I won’t be able to apply in round 1. So I was considering to apply right now in Round 1 and in case the admission committee asks me to attempt GMAT again, I would already have the new score with me.

aeydinath, got it on a personal level if not a competitive score I mean 700+ range then we should always think of retaking the exam and tweaking the strategies for a 20-30 points increase.

I would go for R1 still - have scored 720 on PE but only got 660 on my real.

Talking with admissions, they all encouraged me to apply with the 660 and if it is the ONLY thing holding me back, they would just ask me to retake it.

Hence, I do not see why you would not apply if the rest of your application is solid.

I was getting 750-760 on my practise tests but ended with only 650 in the actual exam. I choose to believe that it was just a bad day and I can improve my score significantly.

Yes I never said I doubted you, merely saying that I think you can still apply with that for R1 and if it is the ONLY factor holding you back, they will just ask you to retake it, so not see the point in delaying to R2 if the rest of your application is stellar

But if it psychologically feels better to apply with a 700+ in R2 then I would suggest that

Thankyou! The rest of my application is good, but I just felt less confident with my score. Knowing that if the admission committee thinks my score is low, they will suggest to attempt the exam again, gives me some assurance.

Thanks again.
