Hi there,
I am a 28 year old female Singaporean. Graduated from one of the top US colleges majoring in economics 5 years back. I have been working for the Singapore central bank as a financial regulator. I applied to mainly European schools because of the cultural exposure, shorter duration, and relative affordability. I wish to switch to a marketing/ market research/ strategy type of role at an MNC, preferably in the consumer goods, e-commerce or retail sector. I do not want to go back to finance (no passion), and am hesitant about consulting (though the work is fascinating), because I would prefer some stability and work life balance. Pay is secondary (but has to be decent) as compared to job satisfaction. I would be happy to work in the EU, but do not mind coming back to Asia upon graduation. I do not currently speak a European language but I am willing to learn. I am fluent in both English and Mandarin, and had lived a China for a long period of time. My top considerations are financing and whether I can successfully make the switch.
Below are my admission results (only Insead is final, and the other two are my estimates because I applied slightly later). The latter two will be known by this week as the schools promised, and I have to get back to Insead by mid-Feb to secure a place.
1. Insead Franch campus July 2018 intake
- No internship as it is only 10 months
- Consulting focus
- Partial scholarship, loan required
- May transfer back to Singapore campus for recruitment if need be
2. SDA Bocconi
- Internship opportunity
- Industry focus
- 70% - full tuition waiver (otherwise I will unlikely go)
- a special track in luxury brand management that is appealing to me
- 12 months
3. Esade
- Internship opportunity
- Industry focus
- 50% - full tuition waiver (otherwise I will unlikely go)
- flexible duration 12 - 18 months to learn more electives
I was also admitted to LBS masters in finance my employer is willing to sponsor for specialized masters programs, but the sponsorship did not work out. So I will likely reject that offer.
Appreciate your advice guys!! Thanks much!!
