Is it safe to assume at this point that those of us without interview invites are certain dings? Does anyone know the number and/or pecentage of invite slots still outstanding? Thanks so much!

While there have been a significant number of invites, I would not classify the remaining group as certain dings. History shows that quite a large number of invites go out next week. If you don't hear by next Friday, then I would say your chances dwindle quickly. Otherwise, here's to patience...you may get a call yet!

that is what I have heard from alumni that most of the invites are sent on the last 2 days (nov 4 and 5 for us). Lets not forget that the people on GC are very small in number and that doesn't necessarily mean that they have already sent out most of the invites.

Also, correct me if I am wrong but as far I know insead doesn't have a online interview scheduling / slot system like hbs and so its difficult to estimate the number of invites already sent.

All the best to all those who are waiting, I am still optimistic and will be so till 5th Nov :)

I didn't see many invites coming this week. I am guessing it could have something to do with the half term holidays in France.
More activities should come on Nov 4 and 5. Good luck!!!

Toussaint - half term holiday period From midday Saturday 23rd October 2010
to Wednesday 3rd November 2010 inclusive

nervous... interview invites started 2 weeks back and have not heard still. Hope historic statistical suggestions are correct and most of us get an invite close to 5th Nov. LBS, Wharton and INSEAD all on 5th Nov. There can't be a more important day!!!

I think INSEAD assess applications based on geography and have left us neighbours last on the list!!

Hello everyone -

I need some input for recommendations. I would like my supervisor for a volunteer project I am part of to write one of my recommendations. However, I had a look at the type of questions they ask, and one is "Comment on the candidate's career progree to date and her career focus". My supervisor at the volunteer project does not really have much insight into my career. How should she answer this question instead? Comment instead on my focus on the volunteer project? Is this perhaps a bad choice for a reference? :?
Please share your thoughts! Thanks

P.s. I am listed as R1 - but am actually applying R2.

Generally, a good choice for recommenders is two people that can give different but complimentary perspectives on things that INSEAD cares about. I'll assume that you've already been to an information session and know exactly what INSEAD is looking for (international outlook, leadership, career progression, uniqueness of profile, etc), so you should find two people who can fill in gaps and reinforce each other. I chose a manager that's known me for three years and my client that's known me for over a year. Both knew my career progress, goals, aspirations, and how what I am doing now fits in with my career objectives (I had great rapport with my client). I also shared my application essays with them so they could see the overall big picture I had for myself. If your volunteer project supervisor is truly the best referrer you have, then you should have a sit down with her, maybe over coffee or dinner and bare your soul a bit more so she really knows where you've been with your career and where you want to go.

I'm in the US and I'm aware that my coordinator sent out invites the week before last, but I haven't heard yet..makes me anxious. Just can't figure out the pattern.. Thankfully I got a Wharton invite and that reduced my anxiety... Next week is going to be a big one for all of us.. Good luck people and happy haloween!

somehow.. this tidbit on 90% of the invites coming close to the deadline seems to contradict with the fact that 11 out of 37 gmatclubbers have got pre selected invites.. I guess I will be worrying till Nov 4th or even later ...

There's a bit of logic here.. since most of us agree that the pre-selection invites come in by geographies (mostly), the fact that a large no of the gmatclubbers belong to India.. and have heard of only 1 applicant from India getting an invite yet.. happened to be a lady too .. we all know about the emphasis of a proper mix et al.. hence, I wouldnt be tooooooo worried as yet :) Also, havent had much of a history at worrying .. never helped :)

Here's my theory.. they sort by nationality first and then review the applications.. they then send out pre-selects to those in regions where either too many candidates haven't applied or there a many alumni available to interview.. For the rest of the pile, they take time to match up alumni with candidates to ensure they maintain a good balance.. just my imagination! I hope it helps reduce your anxiety!

Could not agree anymore..Hardly anyone from Europe invited yet, as INSEAD has largest alumni pool to conduct interviews etc in this region. Plus US students are also likely to apply to top US schools and hence INSEAD might want to attract their attention earlier than other US schools .... more speculation.. but only 4 days to go ...

I just emailed my coordinator to see if the majority of invites had already gone out and got this out-of-office reply:

Thank you very much for your email message and sorry to have missed you.
I will be out of the office until November the 3rd. Please rest assured that I will respond to your message upon my return on the 4th.

So she is obviously not sending anything else out until the 4th / 5th and I would venture to guess that the others are all out as well. Seems to stack up to the historical account from alumni of lots being sent out the last two days.
