The last GMAT test I took I scored a 640, 40q and 38v. I think my verbal score is fine since it is at the 83rd percentile. But, my quant score needs a lot of work since it is at the 55th percentile. My new goal is to get my quant score above 60th percentile and to get an overall score of 690 to 700.
I’ve asked for feedback on this forum on how to best improve my quant score. The advice I received was that I should go through all 5
manhattan gmat quant books, twice. By doing that, I should really see an improvement in my quant score. I tend to agree with this advice…
I had a good friend of mine, who is in academia, strongly recommend to me to take an actual GMAT prep course. So, I contacted
MGMAT and told them my situation as described above. He said given the fact that I am already scoring above 600, I probably could not benefit much from their standard prep course. Instead he recommended one-on-one tutoring from them.
So, I contacted Kaplan and told them about my current situation. She also said that I probably could not benefit much from their standard prep course. Instead, she recommended that I enroll in their GMAT Data Sufficiency On Demand course and their GMAT Advanced course. I told her that I need to improve my overall quant, not just in data sufficiency. I also told her that I really don’t need to spend any more time in verbal, because their GMAT Advanced course also covers verbal.
So, my question is, where should I invest my time? Should I invest it in self-study with the
Manhattan GMAT books, should I spend time trying to work with a tutor from
Manhattan GMAT, or should I enroll in one or both of these courses from Kaplan? Thank you.
