I understood from a well known online GMAT coaching providers that AWA is now discontinued . Is this correct? And also, i am curious to know if AWA and IR does not contribute to the total GMAT score, what is the importance of the 2 sections. Appreciate the help!

I have the exact same question. If IR is not considered in GMAT score, then is it okay for me to score 0 in that section while scoring better in Verbal and Quant? Is IR score visible to colleges during application process? And does IR score matter to colleges?

AWA is discontinued?? It is not counted for the final score, but still graded; just like the IR.
Where did you come across the part about AWA being discontinued?
