The deadlines to accept offers from other unis r here. Is it a good idea to ask Cornell for an early decision. Has anyone any experience regarding whether Cornell complies with such requests or simply ignores? Could it be that Cornell will send a rejection instead because of me requesting early decision?

You could ask them for an early decision, but they might not necessarily be able to give you one. They will not send a rejection, but in all probability say that the status remains the same and they will let you know if and when there is a change.
