Is the average base salary information of ISB misleading?

Hello Friends,

I was looking the below thread

isb-class-of-2015-calling-all-applicants-151341.html

At the bottom of the page it was mentioned that "Average base salary: $130,135"

However, just below that there was placement records of ISB for 2013 batch. There the mean and median salary was around 18,00,000.
This amount is far less than above mentioned "Average base salary: $130,135".
Could anyone ,please explain why is this?

I'm assuming they included signing and/or year-end bonuses

Hello mgh234,

But that's huge difference. If you convert $130,135 in INdian Rupees, it would be around 80,00,000, which is way too more than 18,00,000.

Yep. That's some wicked Purchasing Power Parity conversion. Ignore that. You know what is INR 18L and what is $130k.

I believe that is taken from the ft rankings for 2014, its called the weighted salary ( average alumnus salary three years post graduation from the school).

That is due to Purchasing Power Parity of the two salaries in the respective countries. 
It means what $130k buys you in USA, an INR18k can buy you in India.
