The answer is easy E.
If a = 0, then YES a is even but if a = 63, then NO a is NOT even.
Answer: E.

(2) a is divisible by 9
Statement 1: a could be 7 or 14. Both are divisible by 7 by first is odd and second is even. Hence not sufficient
Statement 2. a could be 9 or 18. The same as in Statement 1
Both statements - 63 and 126 are both divisible by 63. One is odd and another one is even. Hence both statements are not sufficient.
