Statement 1: x > y
Case 1: x = 2, y = -3 and x+y < 0
Case 2: x = 2, y = -1 and x+y < 0
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: x+y > 1
i.e. x+y is definitely greater than 0
SUFFICIENT

Answer: Option B
