(1) 1/5 < Y < 11/12

So Y is bigger than 1/5 and less than 11/12. so y could be 6/11 or 8/11 (eyeball given the numbers are easy). Therefore insufficient

(2) 2/9 < Y < 8/13

Actually have to do some math here. 2/9 is small enough not to worry about it, 8/13 vs. 7/11 isn't an easy eyeball:

7/11 and 8/13, workable numbers for common denom via multiplication: (7*13)/(13*11) vs. (8*11)/(13*11). Same denom therefore denom is irrelevant. Is 7*13 (70+21 = 91) bigger than 88? yes. So because 7/11 is bigger than Y's maximum range, Y is not greater than 7/11, SUFFICIENT

therefore B.

Is Y greater than 7/11?
Y>0.7 approx

(1) 1/5 < Y < 11/12
max value for Y can be 11/12=0.9 approx
so here values for Y can be 0.2 -0.9
since values for Y can be both smaller and greater than 0.7
INSUFFICIENT.

(2) 2/9 < Y < 8/13
max value for Y can be 8/13=0.6
so here max value for Y is itself less than 0.7
it implies that Y is smaller than 7/11
SUFFICIENT.

Is Y > 7/11 => y > 0.636

(1) 1/5 < Y < 11/12 => 0.2 < y < 0.9, we can say y is less than 0.9 but don't know if it is greater than 0.636. NOT SUFFICIENT

(2) 2/9 < Y < 8/13 => 0.2 < y < 0.61, we can say y is less than 0.61, that means y < 0.636. SUFFICIENT
