Here are list of elementary questions for pronouns , but I was totally confused with the below questions.
Kindly help me out on this.
Q1:It's up to we/us geologists to warn the people of impending volcanic activity.
Answer: us
Confusion:here subject is geologists, and to define subject we use 1st case that should be "we", but answer is us
Q2:The boss was worried that we/us secretaries wouldn't do the work without additional compensation.
Answer:we
Confusion:again the subject seems to be Boss so secretaries should be objective/comparative so we should be using us but answer states we
Q3:I really don't appreciate you/your walking late into class every morning.
Answer:your
Confusion: How could your be correct as it is possesive, but I couldn't hint any posive activity in the aboceve sentence

Q1:It's up to we/us geologists to warn the people of impending volcanic activity.
Answer: us
Confusion:here subject is geologists, and to define subject we use 1st case that should be "we", but answer is us
if u have to ask it in a question form , it becomes 'It's up to whom to warn the people of impending volcanic activity? and whom is always replaced by him/her
Q2:The boss was worried that we/us secretaries wouldn't do the work without additional compensation.
Answer:we
Confusion:again the subject seems to be Boss so secretaries should be objective/comparative so we should be using us but answer states we if u have to ask it in a question form , it becomes 'The boss was worried that who wouldn't do the work without additional compensation. and who is always replaced by he/her
Q3:I really don't appreciate you/your walking late into class every morning.
Answer:your
Confusion: How could your be correct as it is possesive, but I couldn't hint any posive activity in the aboceve sentence if u have to ask it in a question form , it becomes 'I really don't appreciate whose walking late into class every morning. and whose is always replaced by his/their /your
so replace the pronoun with who/whose/whom and see what fits in, ans would be he/his/him respectively.. now try on other sentences and check.. hope it helped
Q1:It's up to we/us geologists to warn the people of impending volcanic activity.
Answer: us
Confusion:here subject is geologists, and to define subject we use 1st case that should be "we", but answer is us
"us" is not the subject. It is the object of preposition 'up to'. So you use 'us'.
Q2:The boss was worried that we/us secretaries wouldn't do the work without additional compensation.
Answer:we
Confusion:again the subject seems to be Boss so secretaries should be objective/comparative so we should be using us but answer states we
"that we/us secretaries wouldn't do the work without additional compensation." is a separate that clause. It has its own subject and verb. So we will take subject form.
Q3:I really don't appreciate you/your walking late into class every morning.
Answer:your
Confusion: How could your be correct as it is possesive, but I couldn't hint any posive activity in the aboceve sentence
'walking' is the object of the verb 'appreciate'. 'your' acts as an adjective of walking - whose walking? Your walking
