Let loan money be x and grant money be y
x+y=8000
x=8000-y

x/4 + 3y/5 = 2875
5x+12y=20*2875
5(x+y)+7y=20*2875
7y=20*2875-5*8000
y= 20(2875-2000)/7 = 20*875/7 = 2500
x= 5500

Taking loan amount as 'l' and grants as 'g'
Total amount l + g = 8000 ...........(1)

Second condition (1/4)l + (3/5)g = 2875 ..........(2)
Resolving we get l = 5500 Option B

L+G= 8000 .....(1)
(1/4)L + (3/5)G= 2875 .....(2)
Solving (1)&(2)
5L+12G= 2875*20
5L+12(8000-L)=57500
7L=96000-57500
7L= 38500
L= 5500

Let loans and grants be denoted as L and G.

L + G = 8000. ———————————(1)

1/4 L + 3/5 G = 2875 ———————————(2)

Multiply Equation 1 by (3/5), we get

(3/5) L + (3/5) G = 4800

(1/4) L + (3/5) G = 2875

Subtracting it, we get

(7/20)L = 1925

L = 5500
