I have recently given my GMAT, and scored 640. My score in Quant was 50 while in Verbal, it is 26. I feel that I am committing several mistakes and not able to identify the errors. Therefore, I am looking for a personalized and customized course. I reside in Delhi , and I am planning a retest within a month. I am confused which institute to join? Jamboree or E-gmat ? Offline course or online course......Not able decide.

Need suggestion.

Hi himang :)

First of all cheer up buddy ! No looking back .There is always a second time . Looking at your GMAT score I presume that it was just a bad day for you . Maybe if you give the paper next time you can perhaps score much better . Your score is 78-80 percentile give or take . You can apply to top 100 B-Schools with that score given you present your profile astutely .
Well I have been a student of Jamboree two years back, I have used their study material which includes :-
1. Red Book ( Only for Verbal )
2. Blue Book
3. OG 13

I do not wish to promote Jamboree or E-gmat here on this forum because I leave that on your wise wisdom . I would like to articulate that study material provided by Jamboree is good . I do have had problems with faculty at Jamboree , they were not up to the mark . However the Blue Book provided by the Jamboree contains 700-800 level of quant questions which I reckon is must for every GMAT aspirant . Moreover blue book contains Drills and 250 questions each of SC , CR & RC . Again these 250 questions are part of “1000 series” questions that is widely available on GMAT . As you said that you only have a month left for your GMAT , I would suggest not to join any Coaching Centre because of time constraints . 1 month is really not enough . If I were at your place I would have not joined Jamboree or any institute because I do not think there are good gmat instructor ( or may be I have not come across) . I would have stayed back at home and prepared for GMAT by redoing OG and going through all the mock tests .

But , If you still want to join a course , go for ONLINE course . E-gmat is brilliant . It is specially designed for non-native English speaker like us . I am saying this because I have attended Rajat Sadna’s webinar and I was impressed by their way of approaching a questions in GMAT in real time .

I hope you find my post useful .

Regards

Thanks for your post.I am little doubtful on the quality of course of egmat, for RC. Also, I need some tutor who can give me personalized and customized teaching, whom can identify my grey areas and only work over them.

You may start with ONE module of E-gmat and if you see improvement in scores buy the whole course they will adjust the earlier purchase :)

Don't join Jamboree,Unprofessional prep institute, i joined in January 2015, raja garden, my Quant was very bad,i was assured that they would even clear my basics but it didn't happen,so i had to study from scratch all by myself,

For doubt session, they are biased despite booking the appointment, i always found an other students there, since i had so many doubts in quant and faculty couldn't give as much time as possible, moreover faculty assumed just because he knows the concept by merely writing down in some way i would also understand the same, he never understood know and explaining (teaching) are 2 different things.

I had wasted 6 months now, and have come to learning curve by my own hard work ,i have complaint email in my in box, i have appointment text message, i have all the fact to prove my point.
Furthermore, while i complaint with the Head ( amit ) he addressed me with TU, he didn't even have manners to talk.
So i must say...stay away from this institute or you would suffer like the way i have.

They charged me with 31000 RS, all gone in to the drain, please think twice before you join.

I will suggest you Jamboree as my experience with Jamboree was pretty good. starting from classes to teacher and their modules everything was complimenting each other in the best way. Their training methodology and division of syllabus helped me to learn vast syllabus very easily.

AND BE AWARE THAT JAMBOREE HAS A VERY AGGRESSIVE INTERNET MARKETING TEAM, ACTIVE ON ALL FORUMS,
They would say all the nice things, but if your are good in Critical reasoning, then ask for more concrete facts and evidences from them,(eg, syllabus is good...but how good and on what basis good? what makes jamboree different from others?and so on) by asking more info, soon you would reach to a conclusion all by yourself.

For syllabus let me give you some facts, they have violated copy right material as they have picked Questions from other sources, including ETS past tests.(Available on the internet)

Second thing you would notice, the bad Page Quality of Books (cost cutting),though book contents are good as it's been copied and pasted from different sources, overall good research done, but getting hand on Question bank by spending thousands of rupees, how wise it would be, i leave on readers to decide,

Third, if somehow you get jamboree books ,then google any question, and you would see the exact source, and same is true for their Jamboree test, made out of from different sources.

and still if you want to explore more then Must Take Trial Class before giving them the money, there's no refund policy.

Hi Deep,

First, you're switching your career, so you need to convince ADcom ( Admission committees of Business school) why you want to change your profession, Adcom wants to make sure that you are an ideal candidate for the business school ,and that by completing MBA in a few years you don't get fed of the same profession and start looking for some other profession, so for that matter you need to evaluate your strengths ,weaknesses , personality traits and future goals. Because MBA is not just about money,it's more about managing yourself, company resources, and people associated with business,

Second, about GMAT coaching institute, don't make a decision hastily to join any institute cause there are people out there who are preying on people like you, they will talk big eg, they say they would do this or that, would show you glory posters and testimonies of former students , but after payment you would be after them and they not listen to you, it has happened to me. my recommendation stay away from jamboree at least, they are definitely old in the business but value for money is zero, highly unprofessional.

Third,There are new institutes in the market, since they are in process of establishing themselves so 1st they won't rip you off by charging 31 thousand like the way jamboree does, 2nd they would give you attention so that they could get word of mouth advertisement from you,my suggestion would be take trail classes, ask many question, do as much research as you can, evaluate all the pros and cons and then make decision.

in the end, since you are from merchant navy so getting admission in a good business school should ideally not be much of a hassle due to your job profile, cause adcom is little generous on people from army or navy background.

Hope that helps.
