Accepted! It sounds like they will be calling their wait list crew over the next couple of days. Got the call today! I know it's now a little late to provide real help, but here is what I did to help improve my chances:

First, I reached out to current staff and faculty that were aligned with what my goal was (global sustainable enterprise), and they helped put me in contact with current students. Have good questions for them. I ended up talking about any conferences or events going on in the field I was interested in. These people are the experts and have an ear to the ground for this kind of advice. Do anything you can to prove interest and expertise in the area you want to move in to (or are currently in).

Second, visit campus. Show engagement and interest. Talk to admissions in person. I got great feedback about my application, and they told me to send an updated application to them addressing all my weaknesses.

Third, my GPA is low. No doubt about it. I took online courses through Coursera (the business foundation series offered by the Wharton School). Crush them out and prove you've got the academic chops.

Stay engaged. The last thing you want to do on the wait list is just wait around. Good luck everyone!

Congrats Quad. To provide another datapoint: my GPA was also the weakest part of my application, but I did none of the additional reaching out after submitting my application (I did a fair amount before). I had been meaning to write a follow-up expressing my continued interest to send in this week, but I'll stop procrastinating now.

I also got a call this morning, though no offer was extended. I told them I couldn't commit within 5 days because of waitlists at other schools. I wonder if I would have gotten an offer if I had given a firmer commitment on the phone?

What number did you guys get the phone call from? I have two missed calls from unknown numbers yesterday and today, but I do not know who it was because I don't answer unknown numbers. They didn't leave a message either, this is killing me!

I got an email at the same day saying that they tried to reach me and offered to reschedule the time.

Also, I got in from the WL! Woohoo!

Got in from Waitlist R1! :)

Got the call yesterday, the adcom was incredibly nice with me, explaining that deposit is due within a week and that no option for scholarships at this point in time. Asked if I was still interested and after I said yes they extended me an offer!

I was all ready to go to BU at this point as I didn't do so well in my Johnson interview, but as luck would have it I think I will be going to Johnson :)

My profile fell within the mean, GPA was a bit low but I have had decent work experience in family business.

As for updates I sent 2 updates about achievements at work and being sent abroad for work overseas. My last update I told them I would be retaking the GMAT but have not taken it yet. Still got the offer though!

Got taken off the waitlist and received an invitation to interview yesterday.

Congrats! Did you send updates regularly or anything else?

Yes, I did. I submitted an additional letter of recommendation even though I already had 3 for my application. The weakest part of my application was my quant score, so I was pretty sure that's what was holding me back. I signed up and completed the MBAMath course, which is a course that all Cornell students do before starting the Fall semester, and submitted my transcript to the ADCOM after successfully completing the course. Lastly, I submitted a letter directly to the ADCOM explaining why I'd be a good fit for their program and the value I would add. I only sent them two updates just because I didn't want to be a pest. This seemed to do the trick for me, although everyone's situation is going to be different.

Hello,

Quick question: In what format is the evaluation by MBAMath conducted? Do they conduct topic-wise tests or do they evaluate the student based on performance across lesson quizzes?

Please let me know, thank you!
