Hi, I am an international student with a background in finance. Post MBA I would like to go into Investment banking, finance or consulting, still undecided. I am quite confused on the school to go to Darden with half tuition scholarship, Duke no scholarship and Kelley full ride.

Congrats on your admits!

Darden is the IB darling school so that would be the first recommendation... if money is doable and you don’t mind the case method.

Darden is really your best chance for investment banking. It would kind of be an oxymoron to choose a meaningfully lower ranked school in exchange for saving 50k tuition dollars when you’re trying to go to investment banking which promises to pay millions. But I could see some people being risk-averse and realizing that the chances of breaking into this in banking a 4 to 1 and not guaranteed....


I think it really depends on how bullish you feel about yourself. I feel the Darden is a good middle ground between paying something and paying nothing....

Agree with bb here that Darden seems to be the most optimal choice. You'll be trading significantly up from Kelley in exchange for paying half the sticker price, and Darden is well-regarded for IB and consulting. Darden and Duke belong to the same T15 tier, and so there's no meaningful difference in brand/prestige imo. In which case, it makes sense to save money, unless you feel that the case method or culture fit is a dealbreaker at Darden.

I would go with Darden with its half scholarship. While Kelley has students going into IB, its location definitely poses a challenge for these industries. Apart from being much higher ranked, you can also leverage Darden's alumni base a lot more which is very important for IB and consulting.

There are LOTS of reasons to like all three schools.

Given your goals and the opportunities in front of you, I think Darden is the wise choice.
