Last month a certain bookstore ordered a discount to preferred customers. After the fi…rst book purchased, preferred customers paid $12.99 for each additional hardback book purchased. If a preferred customer purchased a total of 4 hardback books and paid$21.95 for the fi…rst book, then the dollar amount that the customer paid for the 4 books is equivalent to which of the following?

(A) 3(13.00) + 21.92
(B) 3(13.00) + 21.98
(C) 3(13.00) + 22.00
(D) 3(13.00 - 0:01) + 21.92
(E) 3(13.00 - 0:05) + 21.99

Guys - any idea what's the trick to solve this question. I have got the 5th one incorrect and therefore need help.

$21.95 for the fi rst book and$12.99 for each of 3 additional books, make total of $$21.95+3*12.99=21.95+3*(13.00-0.01)=21.95+3*13.00-0.03=21.92+3*13.00$$.

Agree with Bunuels solution, however there is a small typo which sneaked into the question:

"Last month a certain bookstore ordered a discount to preferred customers. "

I guess that should probably say "ordered".
