Hi!
Today I gave my first mock, scoring 635 (Q80, V82, DI82) - I understand that'd be 690 for 10th Edition.
I have been prepping for like 3 or 4 months, used TTP for 2 months for Verbal + Quant. I bought
Manhattan books and went through Verbal. I plan to finally open my brand-new OG books, so will get some OG reps as I found some of the question stems weird.
The thing is that my score is really... weird? I think it should be much lower, especially when I see what other people report... first of all, I had plenty of mistakes, including:
1. 6 mistakes in Quant
2. 8 mistakes in Verbal (7 of which in RC...)
3. 8 mistakes in DI
I expected more like 575 or something, was super stressed during the mock and panicked which led me to miss the whole RC at the very end (3/3 wrong)...
During my review, I was able to solve 5 of the 6 quant questions that I had gotten wrong on the first try (they were quite easy and would have like 75% average correct here on GMATClub), mostly the problem was silly mistakes really (I'm doing them TOO often! My cognitive capabilities just switch off when I start a test... so I had a square root of 8 as 2 to the power of 1/2 during the mock...). I was consistently scoring 100% Easy, 90-100% Medium and 75%+ on Hard during my TTP chapter tests, so was super surprised to get 66th Quant Percentile... looks like stress or too little practice? Maybe someone smarter could comment here.
Also, never studied for DI so that score is a really nice surprise... seems like this section will not take a lot of time on my end (unless that's just pure luck).
I am looking for any tips really, as I enter my last month of preps and want to get my score up a bit for a better shot at HSW. Also, my stress management is terrible and I usually just panic... even my mock was one of the most stressful situations during the last few years, despite having worked in IB/PE... so there's that (this explains why my first mock is only after I have been studying for a few months now...).
